TurboTax: File Your Tax Return App revisa

Got a link through work to get a 20% discount. Followed instructions but the discount wasn’t added at checkout. happens. BUT reached out to their customer service team and spent and hour with them jerking me around only to get a “sorry can’t help”. pressed them, got a link to submit a refund request. Took the time and went through their hoops again and guess what? got another middle finger from TurboTax Intuit. OK app, terrible customer service = not worth it, use other services that won’t cheat you!!

I filed and got a confirmation that both state and federal were accepted but when I go check and see why I still haven’t gotten my state, I get told my state can’t be found and I can’t get a hold of a actual person from this app just the terrible AI that they use.

I received an email saying that if I filed prior to April 15 I could do so with a 20% discount. I still have the email. I clicked the link in the email and it told me that the discount was applied and then it took me into my app to file but when was not honored or present, I called customer service and they simply told me. Oh there’s nothing we can do. I finally got to someone that was willing to take a complaint to the next level. If this complaint is not resolved to my satisfaction, I will never use TurboTax again and I will spread the information about how lousy this company is at resolving issues to all my social media contacts. I’ve used TurboTax for the last 20 years. They should be ashamed of themselves for the way they treat their customers.

So my person wants me to send federal money back, since we going to the mail. We need more buttons. Setting, stop, general, skip, ETC…….,……

please don’t have your “basic live service” automatically selected at checkout when i didn’t even use it.

I file my taxes back in march. Still haven’t received it back. I text them they said we can’t fine it. 🤔

They are going to sell you “free” on most things but will end up paying for fee + PLUS what ever they want to charge they are going to keep on up-charging you every single screen and if you don’t try paying for it it’s won’t let you go on every if you try everything with “free” it’s never free what so ever always up-charges and hidden fees, if you want to give them 75% of what your supposed to get go with them they’ll love to take as much as they can.

App format does not allow you to navigate on iphone. Pretty bad. Certain screens won’t let you scroll all the way down.

I have used turbo tax before, and this is not a review on the app itself, but the service. Why did turbo tax only begin making the service free after many competitors did. I probably paid a minimum of 10% of my return, year to year, with this platform until the competition began charging nothing. Now it seems like thats an advertising perk for turbo tax. They act like they didn't just charge people with student loans or other extenuating circumstances a huge fee on returns when it was marketed as a “free service,” until right after you finish filing and then, “oh we actually need to charge because, xyz.” Seems to me like you were fine to rake in the rewards until you got called on it then you change your ways and act like you’re doing us a favor by not charging us for something we should be able to do ourselves. Because of Inuit’s lobbying and intrusion into policy regarding tax returns, turbo tax basically dominated the market for years, and now after feeling the pain of the competition taking business away, they decide to do what’s right for consumers. I’m sure you guys will do fine in the future, and are doing fine now, but people will not keep accepting this when there are equivalent alternatives that do not charge, or charge substantially less for equivalent services. For those that see this and are being charged by turbo tax for, “advanced filing options,” or whatever they call it, I would seek alternative filing platforms. They are out there.

They will always take a share of your tax return, even when you file for free. Their software is broken

This app has given me so much grief over the years, it has no idea what to do for any non-standard filing and refuses to let you do anything whenever it's terrible review system fails. Do not use.

Okay, so I paid for the deluxe and it said that I could talk to a professional if needed. Well, I’m super confused and couldn’t get any answers. This is my first time filing as an independent contractor, so you can understand the frustration… couldn’t access anyone or anything and after having a mental breakdown in the middle of my kitchen while eating cold Dino nuggies, I finally just gave up and called the IRS. Terrible. Just Terrible. Btw, there are actual tax professionals that cost less.

I am so happy with the process and result. Stress-free (as stress free as taxes can be). The expert - and she is an expert- was on it. Knowledgeable, professional, warm and patient. The whole process was quick-upload your docs and in less than a day, my taxes were done. Thank you Ms. LaTreva!

Charging hundreds of dollars to finish filling taxes where no human was ever involved is criminal. If cost does not come down in following years I will not be returning, I could just have a person do it for me for less

iPhone 14 Pro Max and the screen doesn’t let me scroll and select continue to use the app. The continue button is constantly hidden.

I don’t understand why there is a password lock for this app

It used to be free. I accepted the fee they charged to file now. Just a plain W2 form. What’s new is that in order for the TurboTax fee to be paid is an ADDITIONAL FEE if taken from your incoming refund. There is no fee if payed upfront by debit or credit card. Of course it isn’t worded plainly like that though. This hidden fee is called “Premium Service Fee”. Watch out for it. Save an extra $45 by card or better yet, go to a free site.

The free tax websites are WAY MORE CONVIENT AND COMPREHENSIBLE!!! It seems like turbo tax sends automated notifications ie your taxes have been accepted, when they most certainly have not!! Will never use this company ever again!!! $200 for nothing but a headache run around and tons of wasted time !!!!

TurboTax is barely more convenient than mailing in your own taxes for the simple fact that it can pull up previous years data. That is literally the only useful thing about it. All the supposed checks and help is just tedious pencil-whipping done by the app at the expense of your time and clarity. The app upsells you with intentionally misleading language no less than six times. The app tries to coerce you into sharing your data unnecessarily so that you can be more easily advertised too, and so those advertisements can be personalized to your unique situation. There is no other event in my life all year in which I have to have my walls up, guard up, and head on a swivel than when I have to file my taxes. I depend on previous years data and so I keep coming back to that one single convenience. Some years I have to pay, other years I managed to painfully scrape through the app without paying to do my taxes. Every year, I hate the experience. With vitriol, I sincerely hope you fail and go out of business. I spit on you, Intuit. You are nothing.

Unsure if I will continue using TurboTax moving forward. It’s just too darn expensive. I think I’ll stick with FreeTax USA.

I ended up being forced to pay $170 just for using the service that was “free”. I have been taken advantage of. I’ll make sure to tell everyone I know NOT to use turbo tax for the rest of my life, then my children will spread the word. Then my grand children will, then my great grand children, etc. shame on you.

Although it may have a few gimmicky features, TurboTax is one of the most EXPENSIVE online tax prep software on the market. If you make below a certain AGI, you can use many other websites for FREE Federal and in some cases, Free State as well. I switched to OLT.com which is listed on the irs.gov website as an “approved” software and offers free FED & State if your AGI is below 48K. Look on the irs website. Don’t be afraid to use another service! Stop funneling money INTUIT! lol

One star is one too many for this “service” if you can call it that. If I’m filing my taxes, and you offer a free service to do so, maybe you should clarify that your “free” service is going to cost $80 in fees

I tried TurboTax this year and it’s been nothing but a complete headache and if you have a question and contact with the live agency from TurboTax to talk about a problem their go to answer is to have you call off to the IRS and have you call them. To talk to the IRS it takes forever to get to talk to them so you’re just running around in circles just to get your taxes done over a mistake from this app on their end.

Tried filing my taxes last year and paid to have someone help me, it was my first time filing taxes ever, and the lady just hung up on me… I had to figure it out on my own and then this year I tried filing and no matter what I do it just keeps saying REJECTED, I paid for the deluxe edition because it said in order to file I NEED to upgrade because of my 401k and it still won’t file and they got my money…

This people charge me almost $400 to file my CA taxes, I end up doing half of the work, calling CA taxation office almost everyday for them to tell me that the taxes where done wrong, I call to see how they can fix a problem that they did and no one knows how to fix my problem. Last time I use this app to file my taxes.

I am so appalled by this app. Seriously, where do I begin?! I filed with TT for the last two years and this year suddenly EVERYTHING is different AND it screwed up my return. It screwed up my return so badly that the LIVE CHAT help LEFT my chat and said that she didn’t understand the error either before doing so! Prior to that, she tried to have me submit my return when I had asked her to help me solve an issue - and at that point the ‘purchase’ INCLUDED $200.00 for the supposedly ‘free’ help?! The NOT free help that LEFT the chat! NO. NO. JUST NO.

This year they’ve upped their prices changed their terms and now if you don’t get your refund on time they just take their payment instead of waiting. I believe if we have to wait to get paid our taxes that we are rightfully owed then so do y’all and I did them myself didn’t ask for a tax expert so who really am I paying the computer program? Will. Not. Be. Using. Again. Loved it for the past four years now I’m out✌️

Paid to have tax expert on the phone with me for them to have no answers and to just keep suggesting that I click the learn more links. Has absolutely no advise that I couldn’t have found in the learn more tabs. I wanted the help because of deductions on a 1099NEC and I had to find the answers on my own because she had absolutely nothing to offer. And then charged me over $200 for a service that I gave my self. Then both Fed and state returns were rejected. She told me they would be if I had market pace insurance and didn’t have the correct forms but said I should file anyway

Used turbo tax for years but will no longer. If you deal with any stocks they make you upgrade to the premium version “over 200$” and then charge you for state return as well. Go see an actual tax professional and get back more money people.

Everyone won’t like this app people just stop ending their tax

I am really disappointed with Turbo tax this year. I have used it for many years and never run into the frustrations i had this year. When I tried to review my return before filing it the tax return pdf would not display in the app, and when i tried to download or print it that wouldn’t work either. And their “live help” was completely useless and not at all live. I finally just rebooted the app a couple times and that finally gave me a readable tax return.

I was scared to do my taxes and I am so happy that it was easy!

2024 refund was withheld due to insufficient tax paid(my payroll lady sucked). Called the Att Gen office to find out about the status. Found out there was multiple years of missing taxes. 2024 turbo tax notified me about the unpaid tax before I submitted, but not a word about the other years or I would have paid. Att Gen staff told me TurboTax was terrible and this happens frequently. Never again, and come tax time it’ll be plastered all over social media to avoid this service.

I have had turbo tax for consecutive years. Never had an issue. This year I elected for them to pay themselves using my return. After spending a good about of time AI I finely spoke to real person. In the end they punted me to the IRS. The IRS then punted me back to turbo. 2500.00 minus the 50.00 few to turbo fee. I filed in January. It’s now April 5 2025. H&R Block her I come.

I’ve been filing since I was 17 and this year they charged me 180$ which is outrageous considering I was never charged before

No matter how they try to slice it their service is not free anymore for those who have been using it ever since it was actually free. Never using this service again especially since there are actually free tax services. So sad y’all don’t care about the customers who have been with you since you started all those years ago. Won’t be a customer of yours ever again. Not sad to see you go.

Tried to charge me $79 for a free return. Very spammy

$190 to do my own taxes? $40 more to pay through my refund? Not a chance. This is a rip off. For this price I’d rather have someone else do it for me that can actually answer questions instead of vague shells of an answer. Don’t worry you can pay another $100 to ask 1 or 2 questions. Done with TurboTax forever. What a scam

Software works good and is easy to use, but it is one of the worst deals around. They want to charge you nearly 150 dollars to file when there are numerous softwares that will do it for free. In fact, Chime offered me over 400 dollars more on my refund and allowed me to file completely free. Complete ripoff.

They inject their own ads in the middle of the flow, which crashes the app, losing your data, so you have to close it and start the section over. They cannot handle multiple Roth IRA contributions in box 12, and if your state has an online tax filing system, they deliberately break their own so that you must mail it in. And while debugging their software for them, you get stuck in the identity verification loop at the end many, many times. Don’t waste your time with these jokers.

With H&R they wanted to charge $50 to do it with Turbo Tax I was left with a whopping $22 of my tax return. Just get out and do it don’t be lazy

The site is buggy it forced me to the print option instead of efile and I do not have access to to a printer
